Workshops on Investigative Reporting related to Tobacco Industry and FCTC Article 5.3 for Local Correspondents of National Media

Two workshops on the above topics were conducted on 14th November and 21st November for the local correspondents from North Western and Northern provinces. The workshops were organized as a collaborative project with, Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC). The main aim of the workshops was to improve the awareness of the grass root level media personnel on using investigative reporting techniques to report tobacco related issues, FCTC Article 5.3 and tobacco industry interference in policies and to introduce the TobaccoUnmasked website.

North Western Province program was held on 14th November 2017 at Kurunagala Blue Sky hotel. Mr. Pubudu Sumanasekara, Executive director, ADIC and the CCT members facilitated the event. 82 provincial reporters from different print and electronic media stations attended the event.

Northern Province program was held at Green Grass hotel, Jaffna on 21 st November 2017. Editor of the Tobacco Unmasked website, Dr. Manuja Perera and the ADIC members Mr. Dinesh kumar, Ms. Nidarshana selladurai, and Mr. A. Kodeeswarar  conducted this event with the members of the North and East program at ADIC. Forty one (41) Media reporters and free-lance writers from regional and national media stations and members of the Jaffna press club attended the session.
